This blog serves as a repository for evocative mentions of food and drink found in books other than recipe books. And film and TV other than cooking shows and The Joy-Luck Club. Crime fiction, especially non-English, invariably has elaborate descriptions of meals and beverages that serve ostensibly to add colour to the description, but usually end up holding up the action. Still, there’s good stuff out there, and I plan to excerpt the gastronomic oddities and excesses that populate the world of literature and travel and all that.
